Common questions
About AI post-editing
The five questions clients and localisation teams ask most often before starting a Spanish MTPE engagement.
Will post-edited AI Spanish actually read like native Spanish?
Yes, as long as the post-editing tier fits the content. Raw MT and LLM output usually shows the usual giveaways: literal calques, English-shaped sentences, off register. Full post-editing rewrites those bits so the final copy reads like it was written in Spanish from the start. Light post-editing keeps things clear, accurate, and ready to publish, without polishing every last nuance.
Light vs. full post-editing — which one do I need?
Light post-editing fits internal content, support articles, and high-volume copy where the goal is clarity and accuracy. Full post-editing fits anything customer-facing where tone, voice, and flow matter: product UI, marketing, onboarding, brand content. If you're not sure, send a sample and I'll recommend the tier and a price for each.
How do you handle Spain vs. Latin America?
I work primarily in es-ES and neutral Spanish, and coordinate with trusted regional reviewers for es-MX, es-AR, and es-419 when a project needs full regional adaptation. For most digital products a neutral Spanish baseline plus a light regional pass is the most cost-effective route; I'll flag when one locale genuinely won't serve all markets.
What's a realistic turnaround and rate for AI post-editing?
Light post-editing usually costs around 40 to 60 percent of a from-scratch translation, and it's possible to get through 1.5 to 2 times more words per day. Full post-editing sits closer to standard translation rates, since the work is much closer to a rewrite. Final pricing depends on the quality of the raw MT, the domain, and the volume, so I always quote per project once I've seen a sample.
How do you catch the things AI gets confidently wrong?
A human review pass that flags every issue by severity. That includes the things AI gets confidently wrong: invented facts, mistranslated numbers and names, gender and plural mistakes, the wrong register (tú vs. usted), and inconsistent terminology against your glossary or previous translations. For ongoing pipelines, I can deliver MQM- or DQF-aligned scorecards so you can track quality batch over batch.
